not marked as a favorite taxon *Phelipanche nana (Noë ex Reichenbach) Soják. Common name: Dwarf Sorrel Broomrape. Habitat: Disturbed areas, mowed lawns, roadsides, urban parks, ditches, and waste areas. Distribution: Native of Mediterranean s. Europe, w. Asia, and n. Africa. A common introduction in the eastern third of Texas.

Taxonomy Comments: This taxon is frequently treated as a subspecies of P. ramosa. Phylogenetic analysis by Schneider (2025) shows specimens identified as P. nana from the south-central U.S. not grouping decidedly with either P. nana or P. ramosa, however this is based on limited sampling and on the reliability of morphological identification of the reference samples analyzed. It seems appropriate to include P. nana here based upon consistent morphological and ecological characters within its native range, and the concordance of those characters with material seen in the Flora region.
