*Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standley ssp. siceraria. Common name: Bottle Gourd, Calabash Gourd. Phenology: May-Sep. Habitat: Gardens, fields, trash heaps, commonly cultivated in home gardens and commercially, rare as a volunteer from seed the following year. Distribution: Native of subsaharan Africa. One of the oldest cultivated plants.
