not marked as a favorite taxon Eryngium integrifolium Walter var. piedmontanum Kees, Weakley, & D.B. Poindexter. Common name: Piedmont Eryngo. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Acidic Piedmont bogs and seepages. Distribution: Upper Piedmont of nw. South Carolina and sw. North Carolina, south to the lower Piedmont of Georgia, and (perhaps only historically) lower-elevation mountains of North Carolina (Henderson Co.); in Atlantic-draining river basins north and east of the distribution of E. mississippiense, and between the fall-line Sandhills var. integrifolium and montane var. maficola.
