Habitat: Moist to dryish forests and woodlands, especially over mafic or calcareous rocks, in Coastal Plain ravines in VA over coquina limestone. Distribution: Sc. NC (e. VA?) west to e. KS, south to n. FL and c. and s. TX.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Populations of V. virginica from e. VA appear to be substantially disjunct from other populations of either variety.
