MS (where uncertainly native); West Indies, s. TX (where possibly only naturalized), Mexico (CAM, OAX, ROO, SIN, TAB, TAM, VER, YUC) south through Central America and South America.

Taxonomy Comments: Natural but rare hybrids between Coccoloba diversfolia and Coccoloba uvifera occur in s. FL; the hybrid has been given a binomial name, Coccoloba ×hybrida Castañeda-Noa.
