Nymphoides cordata (Elliott) Fernald. Common name: Little Floating Heart. Phenology: Apr-Aug. Habitat: Upland depression ponds, sluggish streams, beaverponds, primarily in the fall-line Sandhills. Distribution: NL (Newfoundland) and ON south MD; disjunct in the Coastal Plain of NC and SC; disjunct from sw. GA and Panhandle FL west to e. LA.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: A tetraploid species (2n=36) (Tippery et al. 2018).

Synonymy : = C, F, Fl7, GW2, K4, NE, NY, Pa, RAB, WH3, Middleton et al (2018), Wood (1983a); = Nymphoides cordatum — G, Tat, orthographic variant; ? Nymphoides lacunosum (Vent.) Kuntze — S, misapplied; Villarsia cordata Elliott. Basionym: Villarsia cordata Elliott 1817
