not marked as a favorite taxon Rhododendron cumberlandense E.L. Braun. Common name: Cumberland Azalea. Phenology: Jun-Jul; Jul-Oct. Habitat: Balds and exposed or moist slopes. Distribution: A Southern Appalachian endemic, primarily west of the Blue Ridge: e. KY and w. VA south to ec. TN, n. GA, and ne. AL; reports from the Piedmont of SC (Kron 1993) are based on R. eastmanii.
