Vachellia macracantha (Humboldt & Bonpland ex Willdenow) Seigler & Ebinger. Common name: Apopanax, Longspine Acacia, Porknut, Cuindora. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Coastal hammocks, also planted as an ornamental and rarely naturalized. Distribution: S. and c. FL peninsula; Bahamas; Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Synonymy : = FNA11.1, K4, Mex, POWO, WI, Seigler & Ebinger (2005); = Acacia macracantha Humb. & Bonpl. ex Willd. — Bah, NS, SE3, WH3, Isely (1969), Isely (1998). Basionym: Acacia macracantha Humb. & Bonpl. ex Willd. 1806
