Crataegus ×collicola W.W. Ashe. Common name: Hybrid Hill Hawthorn. Phenology: May; Sep-Oct. Habitat: Streamsides, pastures, hillsides, open woodlands. Distribution: W. VA, w. NC, west to KY, MO, n. AR.
Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Taxonomy Comments: This is an assumed hybrid-derivative taxon originating from a form of C. crus-galli L. and C. collina Chapman. Similar is the MO entity C. ×verruculosa Sargent, but slightly differing morphology between these two taxa suggests different genotypes likely contributed among the same parental combination.
