Didiplis diandra (Nuttall ex A.P. de Candolle) Alph. Wood. Common name: Water-purslane. Phenology: Apr-Oct. Habitat: Stagnant water of floodplain pools, streams, and old beaverponds. Distribution: Se. VA, IN, and WI south to NC, SC, MS, LA, and e. TX; disjunct in c. peninsular FL (Wunderlin, Hansen, & Franck 2017); disjunct in Mexico. Recently found in se. PA, where considered likely to be an accidental introduction (S. Grund, pers.comm., 2019).
ID notes: This species occurs in somewhat different appearing forms, depending on water level. The species is often submersed, with flaccid stems and leaves.
