Pteridium pseudocaudatum (Clute) Christenhusz. Common name: Southern Bracken. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Mainly in dry sandy or rocky woodlands, often locally abundant in longleaf pine sandhills and pine flatwoods. Distribution: The "pseudocaudatum entity" is primarily distributed in the Southeastern Coastal Plain (where it is ubiquitous and abundant), but is reported north to MA, OH, IN, IL, s. MI, and MO.
