Vallisneria neotropicalis Victorin. Common name: Large Water-celery, Large Eelgrass. Habitat: Spring runs; other aquatic habitats. Distribution: FL Panhandle, s. FL, and apparently from e. SC west to TX in the Coastal Plain; Cuba.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: The distinctiveness of this taxon has been defended by Les et al (2008) on morphological and molecular grounds.

Synonymy : = AqW, POWO, SFla, Frère Marie-Victorin (1943), Bernardini, & Lucchese (2018), Les et al (2008); = n/a — RAB; < Vallisneria americana Michx. — FNA22, GW1, WH3; < Vallisneria americana Michx. var. americana — Meso6, Lowden (1982). Basionym: Vallisneria neotropicalis Vict. 1943
