not marked as a favorite taxon Phacelia purshii Buckley. Common name: Miami-mist. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Moist forests on floodplains and slopes. Distribution: S. Pennsylvania west to s. Ontario, Ohio, Missouri, and nw. Arkansas, south to nw. South Carolina, nw. Georgia, and s. Alabama.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Plants "with smaller flowers, shorter pedicels, and smaller capsules and seeds" are the basis of P. boykinii and P. bicknellii (Constance 1949). A study of the matter was initiated and specimens annotated as "P. purshii ssp. boykinii", but the research was not completed and the name was never published; further study is warranted. Basionym: Phacelia purshii Buckley 1843
