*Lythrum portula (Linnaeus) D.A. Webb. Common name: Spatul-leaf Loosestrife. Habitat: Muddy drawdown areas in muddy field. Distribution: Native of Europe. Known in our region from Northumbereland County, Virginia (Virginia Botanical Associates 2026). Well-established in w. North America; also reported as an introduction in Ohio, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
