Glossary (beta)

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: As usually interpreted since Cronquist (1945), M. jaimiqui consists of four subspecies variously distributed in the West Indies. The complex is in need of a modern reappraisal, and our taxon may well warrant specific rank, in which case the name is M. emarginata s.s. (see synonymy).

Synonymy : = Fl5, FNA8, K4, WH3, WI, Cronquist (1945a), Govaerts, Frodin, & Pennington (2001); Sloanea emarginata L. = Manilkara bahamensis (Baker) H.J.Lam & A.Meeuse — Bah; = Manilkara emarginata L.; = Mimusops emarginata (L.) Britton — S; >< Mimusops sieberi A.DC. — S13. Basionym: Sloanea emarginata L. 1753
