Salix famelica (Ball) Argus. Common name: Hungry Willow. Habitat: Streambanks. Distribution: MB to AB south to n. MO (Schuyler and Adair counties), KS, and ne. CO. We defer to Argus (2005), who only lists this species as an upper Great Plains taxon. Counties listed in Kartesz (2015) need substantiation, and may more likely represent another member of section Cordatae, especially considering the apparent rare status of S. famelica in the southern portions of adjacent Kansas.
