*Sasa palmata E.G. Camus. Common name: Broadleaf Bamboo. Habitat: Rarely naturalizing in disturbed areas adjacent to urban and suburban plantings. Distribution: Reported for TN (Kartesz 1999; USDA NRCS 2007). Otherwise scattered and rarely naturalizing in our area and mostly establishing near urban or suburban plantings.
Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia
Other Comments: Seemingly far less common than Pseudosasa japonica in urban areas (especially in c. NC). Known from one collection in s. IL in Jackson County in the Marberry Arboretum (Basinger 2001).
