Argythamnia blodgettii (Torrey ex Chapman). Blodgett’s Silverbush. Phen: Jan-Dec. Hab: Pine rocklands, rockland hammocks, coastal berms. Dist: Endemic to s. FL.
Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Taxonomy Comments: The plants in s. FL have traditionally been treated as the south Florida endemic A. blodgettii (Torrey ex Chapman) Chapman, but are stated to be "morphologically indistinguishable" from A. argothamnoides of n. South America and nearby islands (Ramírez-Amezcua in FNA 2016). Given the substantial disjunction, it seems appropriately conservative to recognize A. blodgettii until more definitive work is done on its relationship to A. argothamnoides.
