A genus of about 24 species, annual, biennial, and perennial herbs, of north temperate Asia and North America (Struwe & Pringle 2018). The reasons for the recognition of Gentianopsis are enumerated by Ma (1951), Iltis (1965), and Wood & Weaver (1982).
