Orthosia scoparia (Nuttall) Liede & Meve ssp. scoparia. Common name: Leafless Swallowwort. Phenology: Jan-Dec; (Oct-) Jan-Feb (-Apr). Habitat: Coastal hammocks, shell mounds, other hardwood hammocks. Distribution: Se. SC south to s. FL, west to FL Panhandle; West Indies (Bahamas, Cuba, and w. Hispaniola); ascriptions of a wider distribution refer to species and subspecies other than O. scoparia ssp. scoparia (see Liede-Schumann & Meve 2024).
ID notes: This species quickly loses its leaves during the growing season.
