As circumscribed here (excluding Metanarthecium, following Fuse, Lee, & Tamura 2012), a genus of about 30 species, of e. North America and e. Asia.

ID notes: A distinctive genus, with a basal rosette of yellowish-green, lanceolate leaves with sharply pointed tips, and a nearly leafless flowering stalk with numerous, small, white or yellow flowers
