Ardisia escallonioides Schlechtendal & Chamisso. Common name: Marlberry. Phenology: May-Jun; Nov-May. Habitat: Hammocks, edges of marl prairie, occasionally in disturbed habitats. Distribution: N. peninsular FL (Flagler, Volusia and Pasco counties) south to s. FL; West Indies; Mexico and Central America.
ID notes: This is the only native Ardisia in our flora area.
