Agave asperrima Jacobi ssp. asperrima. Common name: Rough Agave, Maguey Cenizo. Phenology: May-Aug. Habitat: Desert scrub. Distribution: S. TX and n. Mexico.

Taxonomy Comments: This species is similar to A. americana and is often included in synonymy under that species but can be distinguished by the scabrous leaves that are shorter, more often recurved, and with longer marginal teeth.
