Humulus pubescens (E. Small) Tembrock. Midwestern Hops. Phen: Jul-Aug; Sep-Oct. Hab: Disturbed areas, particularly in rich, alluvial soils. Dist: NY and PA south to NC and ne. GA and west to MN, NE, KA, and AR. While native in North America, the native distribution is obscure; it is not clear whether the few occurrences east of the Blue Ridge (including those in NC and VA) are native, or adventive from farther west.
