Dichanthelium mundum (Fernald) LeBlond. Elegant Witchgrass. Phen: Probably spring to fall (known collections are Jul and Aug). Hab: Sandy and peaty meadows, edge of swamps, low moist acid soil. Dist: Se. VA, north-central NC, e. TN.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: The distribution suggests a periglacial influence. Appearing to be very rare, known from six collection sites, the most recent 1992. The spikelets resemble those of the Dichanthelium ovale group, but the vegetative characters are strongly aligned with the D. scabriusculum group. Not treated by RAB, and regarded as a putative hybrid by FNA.

Other Comments: See LeBlond (2019a) for additional, detailed information.
