*Catapodium rigidum (Linnaeus) Dony ssp. rigidum . Common name: Fern Grass. Phenology: Mar-May. Habitat: Shell mounds (SC), railroad tracks, stock pens, waste areas around wool-combing mills, other disturbed areas, perhaps only a waif in the northern parts of our area and somewhat established in the Gulf Coastal Plain. Distribution: Native of Mediterranean Europe.
