Taxonomy Comments: Var. communis and var. ludens are sometimes distinguished (see synonymy): var. communis has flowers with larger petals pale blue and sterile anthers completely yellow, var. ludens has larger petals intense violet blue and sterile anthers with a brownish-purple spot.
