Thelesperma filifolium (W.J. Hooker) A. Gray var. filifolium. Common name: Stiff Greenthread. Phenology: Apr-Jun (-Sep). Habitat: Prairies, glades, and roadsides over calcareous substrates. Distribution: Arkansas and Oklahoma south to w. Louisiana, s. Texas, w. Texas, and Mexico (Nuevo León, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí); disjunct eastward in the Black Belt of Mississippi and on a chalk bluff in Sumter County, wc. Alabama (Keener 2009).
