not marked as a favorite taxon Helianthus mollis Lamarck. Common name: Ashy Sunflower, Gray Sunflower. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Calcareous prairies and barrens, disturbed places. Distribution: Apparently native of the Midwest, centered in IN, IL, MO, AR, c. TN, and w. KY, its original distribution obscured by its subsequent spread. Native in nw. GA.
