not marked as a favorite taxon *Melastoma malabathricum Linnaeus. Common name: Malabar Melastome, Straits-rhododendron. Phenology: Feb-Apr. Habitat: Pine flatwoods. Distribution: Native of tropical Asia. See Wetterer (2022b) for discussion of naturalized occurrence in Martin County, FL.
