Poaceae
Festuca

Festuca sororia Piper. Common name: Ravine Fescue. Phenology: Apr-May. Habitat: Dry, rocky ledges. Distribution: S. CO and UT south to NM and AZ; disjunct in sw. MO (historical). Known from only one very disjunct (ca. 700 mi.) population in Jasper County, MO from its more inherently southwestern distribution. The area in which it was collected (Carthage, MO) has apparently undergone extreme landscape changes due to lead mining, and the species is almost certainly historical (Yatskievych 1999)
