*Catharanthus roseus (Linnaeus) G. Don. Common name: Rosy-periwinkle, Madagascar Periwinkle, Cayenne Jasmine. Phenology: May-Oct. Habitat: Disturbed areas, northwards only persistent after cultivation or as a waif or "throw-out" after cultivation. Distribution: Native of Madagascar, now a pantropical weed.

Origin/Endemic status: Subsaharan Africa

Other Comments: C. roseus is the source of a powerful anti-leukemia drug.
