Stems: Stems several from a stout rhizome, somewhat glandular-hairy above.
Leaves: Leaves alternate, petiolate, 2 times ternately divided, with terminal leaflet 3-parted; leaflets heart-shaped to oval, long-tipped, sharply toothed, glandular-hairy on petioles and veins beneath.

Flowers: Flowers arranged in a pyramid-shaped, branching inflorescence held above leaves; male and female flowers on the same plant, with tiny white to yellowish white petals (petals mostly lacking in female flowers).
Fruits: Fruit a 2-sectioned capsule.
