Brachypodium

*Brachypodium sylvaticum (Hudson) Palisot de Beauvois ssp. sylvaticum. Common name: Slender False Brome. Habitat: Roadsides and yards. Distribution: Native of Europe. This species is still a relatively new invader of very scattered sites in the e. US. It has become well established in a small number of intact natural areas in upstate NY (Tompkins and Genesee counties), where it has become increasingly difficult to control and impossible to eradicate. It has also been found in Charlottesville, VA, where it is also persistent and spreading (Virginia Botanical Associates 2022).
