not marked as a favorite taxon Balduina angustifolia (Pursh) B.L. Robinson. Common name: Sandhill Honeycomb-head, Sandhill Balduina. Phenology: Sep-Dec. Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills, pine rocklands, and other dry, sandy soils. Distribution: GA south to s. FL, west to s. MS; it should be sought in s. SC.

Stems: Stems branched, red-tinged and gland-dotted.

Leaves: Leaves alternate, linear, to 2 1/2 in. long, with inrolled edges; lower leaves withering by flowering time.

Flowers: Flowers in daisy-like heads at ends of branches; heads yellow, 1-2 in. wide, consisting of about 8 (5-13) ray florets with toothed tips surrounding a dome-shaped center composed of tiny disk florets. Several series of small, yellowish-green bracts surround the base of each head.
