*Dicentra formosa (Andrews) Walpers ssp. formosa. Common name: Western Bleeding-heart. Habitat: Suburban gardens. Distribution: Native of w. North America. Native from s. BC south to c. CA, is frequently cultivated and resembles our native D. eximia.

Taxonomy Comments: A variety of cultivars, some apparently derived from hybrids between the two subspecies, make identification uncertain in some cases.
