Setaria chapmanii (Vasey) Pilger. Common name: Chapman’s Bristlegrass, Coral Bristlegrass. Phenology: Feb-Nov. Habitat: Coastal rock barrens, coastal berms, hammocks, prairies, also on waste ground near wool-combing mill (Berkeley County, SC). Distribution: S. FL; West Indies (Bahamas, Cuba); se. Mexico (CAM, ROO, YUC).
ID notes: Only the terminal spikelet on each branch is subtended by a bristle, which resembles an aborted pedicel.
