Froelichia floridana (Nuttall) Moquin-Tandon var. pallescens Moquin-Tandon. Florida Cottonweed. Phen: Jun-Oct. Hab: Longleaf pine sandhills, sandy fields, sandy roadsides. Dist: S. GA to s. peninsular FL.

ID notes: This variety apparently has linear leaves (leaves 8× longer than wide) but little.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: MacCauley (2003) and MacCauley & Ballard (2007) discuss this taxon and its imperfect apparent separation from F. floridana. It may represent merely a more linear-leaved form of F. floridana var. floridana, but needs further study. It is recognized provisionally here pending validation.

Synonymy: < Froelichia floridana (Nutt.) Moq. – FNA4, S, S13, WH3, McCauley & Ballard (2007a), McCauley & Ballard (2007b), McCauley (2004); < Froelichia floridana (Nutt.) Moq. var. floridana – K1, K3, K4
