Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Taxonomy Comments: Two varieties are sometimes recognized; var. arvensis, with seeds ornamented with white, clavate papillae, the plants sparsely glandular, and var. sativa, with seeds reticulate and lacking papillae, the plants sparsely to densely glandular. Additional information is needed on the distinctiveness, range in our area, etc. of the two putative varieties.
