not marked as a favorite taxon *Manilkara zapota (Linnaeus) P. van Royen. Common name: Sapodilla. Phenology: Jan-Dec. Habitat: Rockland hammocks, disturbed upland areas. Distribution: Native of Mexico, Central America, and n. South America (Colombia). Cultivated pantropically for its fruit and chicle (a latex used to make chewing gum).
