*Heracleum mantegazzianum Sommier & Levier. Common name: Giant Hogweed. Phenology: Jun-early Aug. Habitat: Disturbed areas, pastures. Distribution: Native of the Caucasus Mountains. Introduced and well-established in ne. North America; recently found in NC (Poindexter, Weakley, & Denslow 2011). Recently reported as persistent and spreading from plantings in Clarke County, VA (J. Metzgar, pers. comm., 2018); also apparently documented but perhaps not readily established around Baltimore, MD (.
