Hymenopappus scabiosaeus L'Héritier var. scabiosaeus. Common name: Old Plainsman, Southeastern Woollywhite. Phenology: Apr-Jun. Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills and adjacent sandy fields, other open dry areas. Distribution: Sc. SC south to n. peninsular FL, west to AR, MO, and OK, and north in the interior to n. IN, c. and s. IL, and se. MO.
