not marked as a favorite taxon Xyris floridana (Kral) E.L. Bridges & Orzell. Common name: Florida Yellow-eyed-grass. Phenology: Aug. Habitat: Pine savannas, wet pine flatwoods, ditches. Distribution: Se. NC south to s. FL, west to se. LA; Central America.

ID notes: Xyris floridana can be distinguished from X. jupicai by its more sharply pointed, more ovate spikes with older, shriveled flowers mostly or entirely absent. The leaf bases are also strongly purple-colored.
