Eriocaulon aquaticum (Hill) Druce. Seven-angled Pipewort, Northern Pipewort. Phen: Jul-Oct. Hab: Ponds, natural lake shoreline marshes, floating peat mats, blackwater stream shores. Dist: NB and NL (Newfoundland) west to ON and MN, south to e. NC, VA, and IN; also Great Britain and Ireland.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: The name E. septangulare is invalid. E. aquaticum is the correct name if the species is interpreted to include both northern European and northeastern North American plants. If North American plants are distinct from European, the correct name is E. pellucidum.
