Juncus marginatus Rostkovius. Subgenus: Juncus. Section: Graminifolii. Common name: Grass-leaved Rush. Phenology: Jun-Sep. Habitat: Wet meadows, bogs, generally throughout in wet, sandy or peaty soil. Distribution: NS to ON, MI, and NE, south to s. peninsular FL and TX; disjunct in CA and in South America.

When growing in a cespitose fashion the rhizomes are short or absent. Individuals can be solitary with a rhizome present.

Taxonomy Comments: See Knapp & Naczi (2008) for clarification of the Juncus marginatus complex.
