Juncus nodosus Linnaeus. Subgenus: Juncus. Section: Ozophyllum. Knotted Rush. Phen: (Jun-) Jul-Sep. Hab: Calcareous fens, seeps, wet meadows, swamps, and streamsides. Dist: NL (Newfoundland) to BC, south to DE, w. VA, WV, IN, MO, TX, and CA.
ID notes: Much like J. elliottii but having much more prominent ring-like septate bands. Inner tepals conspicuously smaller than any other member of the section in the flora region.
