Juncus scirpoides Lamarck var. compositus R.M. Harper. Subgenus: Juncus. Section: Ozophyllum. Common name: Lobe-headed Rush. Phenology: Jun-Oct. Habitat: Roadsides, wet, open, disturbed areas. Distribution: Coastal Plain: NC, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, SC, TX, VA.

ID notes: Distinguished from var. scirpoides by its lobed heads. The capsules and tepals are usually so congested they are difficult to differentiate without magnification.
