Juncus brachyphyllus Wiegand. Subgenus: Agathryon. Section: Steirochloa. Phen: Apr-Jun (-Aug). Hab: Dry, sandy fields and barrens, dry prairies and sandstone glades. Dist: MO and KS, south to TX; MT, ID, and WA south to CA; disjunct in the Coastal Plain of w. TN.

ID notes:Much like J. georgianus, but with smaller anthers. Found in the central US in a variety of mesic to wet habitats.
