*Cyperus serotinus Rottbøll. Common name: Tidalmarsh Flatsedge. Phenology: Jun-Aug. Habitat: Tidal marshes. Distribution: Native of Eurasia. Reported as naturalized in s. NJ, DE, and PA (FNA, Kartesz 1999).
ID notes: Macroscopically C. serotinus most closely resembles C. rotundus; in addition to the wetland habitat and dorsiventrally compressed achenes, it has spikelets that are more compressed (lanceoloid vs. linear) and is a much more robust plant (5-10 dm vs. 1-4 dm) than the latter species.
