Rhynchospora baldwinii A. Gray. Common name: Baldwin's Beaksedge. Phenology: Jul-Aug. Habitat: Wet pine savannas, seepages, occasionally in wetter fringes of FL dry prairies. Distribution: Se. NC south to s. FL and west to LA.

ID notes: All beaksedges have essentially 3-sided stems, but this species is sharply triangular in cross-section. The leaves of this species also have a longer taper to the tip than most other beaksedges. Similar to R. ciliaris, but leaves lacking marginal cilia, more numerous and longer achene bristles, and as mentioned above more sharply triangular stems (especially just below the inflorescence).
